I think Power Director 8 is fairly easy to use for your initial set up and their web site has great video tutorials for the more detailed parts of what ever project you are making. (I used my laptop for the tutorials while working on my project on my desktop.) It comes with a decent amount of effects and transitions and you have the ability to modify almost any of them from within the program. You can download for free more DVD menu pages, particles, title pages, etc. I have used a few other video editing programs and DVD authoring programs and this one is a lot more intuitive than most. As with any program that you are putting in a lot of time and effort, visual effects, audio, music it is so important to "save" any and all changes while working on them.
