The 50gb BFD2 pack is very bloated. The sounds are pretty decent, yet they are completely smothered with reverb. There doesn't seem to be a way to really control it without severely cutting your overhead / ambient mics, which destroys the sound pretty much. For a 50gb library, there's not a lot to choose from either. Most of the sounds are pretty bad as well. They can't be used upon loading, as you are pretty much forced to do a huge amount of editing and processing on each piece to get it to sound somewhat presentable.
I was trying to find an answer for a quick question regarding the lack of an open hat when using a MIDI keyboard. That's right, by default, there's no open hat. Even if you try to map it, it just plays as a closed hat. The response I got from their support didn't help at all, and it wasn't even on the same topic as what I asked. There's literally no support whatsoever concerning mapping the notes to a MIDI keyboard on the internet. It's not answered in the manual, which only covers mapping to e-kits.
It's a huge library with minimal functionality and no support. It's not a good deal by any stretch of the imagination.
Suggested instead, I would say to check out Superior Drummer 2. It sounds fantastic and comes out of the box with full functionality, and a much easier to use mixer.
I use Cubase 5 and an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88.Get more detail about Fxpansion BFD2 Acoustic Drums Module.
